Maximize the Benefits of your Solar Panels with Meralco Net-Metering

Do you have solar panels installed or considering going solar at home? Consult with us so we can guide you on standards and key considerations to maximize your solar investment.

What is Net-Metering (NM)?

Net-Metering (NM) is a program under RA 9513, where you can install a renewable energy facility with a capacity of up to 100 kW at your property and any excess RE electricity produced will be exported to us, and its corresponding value will be given as credits on your next bill.

What are the benefits of NM?

Solar energy has become one of the most accessible RE options, especially with the growing availability of solar facilities that can be installed at home.

Consulting with us ensures you maximize the following benefits of NM:

Safety
SAFETY
Prevent electrical fires, electrocution hazards, and damage to property
Stability
STABILITY
Avoid dangerous fluctuations and power interruptions
Sustainability
SUSTAINABILITY
Promote the use of energy that is more environmentally friendly, contributing to the preservation of our planet
Savings

Export excess solar energy to the grid and save on bills
1Compliant with technical standards from the Energy Regulatory Commission, Philippine Electrical Code, Philippine Distribution Code, etc.

How does NM work?

Enrolling in NM ensures that your RE facility is safely connected to the grid through a bi-directional meter that measures both your import and export energy and ensures you are billed accurately.

The RE facility harnesses solar energy that is used to generate electricity. Any excess power that is not utilized by the household will be exported and converted to bill credits, which will be deducted from the monthly electricity bill. Any deficit on the customer’s end will be imported from Meralco and charged accordingly.

What to consider before going solar?

  1. Know the right size.
Take note of your appliances that will be operating when sunlight is available. This will determine the amount of energy that you’ll need and the right installation size for your household. This ensures you spend the right amount on your installation, along with keeping your appliances and equipment running smoothly and safely.

  2. Check the best location for your installation
Before you make your investment, check on your roof! Inspect the structure and position where your panels will be installed. Consider factors such as panel direction, panel angles, and inverter options – all of which affect the output and the efficiency of the solar photovoltaic (PV) system.

  3. Choose the right solar provider.
Choose a supplier who is reputable, with after-sales service, and knowledgeable in safety standards.

  4. Ensure that your solar installation is registered with Meralco.
Installing and operating a solar facility without registering with Meralco exposes you and other customers to several risks and safety hazards.
